Sebastián focuses his practice on Corporate Law and Compliance at Barros Silva Varela & Vigil. His work centres on advising domestic and international companies on corporate matters, including mergers and acquisitions (M&A), the structuring of shareholder agreements and corporate governance.
He has extensive experience advising companies on their day-to-day operations, drafting and reviewing contracts, corporate reorganisations, regulatory compliance and relations with authorities, providing a strategic vision aligned with business objectives.
In addition, he advises local and foreign companies on Compliance and Personal Data Protection matters, including the design and implementation of Compliance Programmes, Models for the Prevention of Crimes and breaches of Personal Data regulations, internal investigations and the mitigation of legal risks, with a particular emphasis on anti-corruption.
Fernando is one of the founding partners of Barros Silva Varela & Vigil and specialises in corporate matters, mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, corporate structure design and project finance. Through his practice, he accompanies his clients in all their legal needs, providing strategic advice with a focus on long-term and sustainable solutions. He also leads the area of litigation and resolution of civil, commercial, national and international disputes, standing out for a pro-business approach oriented to the efficient management of conflicts, aligned with the objectives of each client.
José Manuel has a vast experience and recognition in the Chilean legal market. He has acted as counsel for multiple companies in antitrust matters, litigation and arbitration in the most diverse markets, including the dairy industry, salmon, energy, mining, construction and infrastructure, telecommunications, retail, consumer, medical supplies, supermarkets, cement and steel, among others. He has also represented public companies and industry bodies in litigation matters. His activity includes international arbitration, where he has participated in proceedings subject to ICC rules.
In addition to his activity in investigations before the National Economic Prosecutor’s Office, proceedings before the Antitrust Court and control of concentration operations, Bustamante has a recognized leadership in antitrust compliance matters, having been a pioneer in the development of prevention programs for companies in Chile 20 years ago.
Rodrigo co-heads the firm’s M&A practice and has extensive experience in complex transactions, with a primarily international focus and in a variety of areas such as manufacturing, mining, services, consumer goods, construction, sports, etc.
He also focuses his practice on agreements and conflicts between shareholders, both in public and private companies, and advises boards of directors on corporate governance matters.
This, combined with his experience as a professor of civil law for more than 20 years, has led him to advise minority shareholders, controlling shareholders, directors, and third parties in arbitration and litigation related to the Corporations and Securities Law.
Rodrigo advises domestic and foreign companies, with a special focus on private equity and markets such as Brazil, Asia, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

Claudia leads the Environmental Law and Public Procurement practice at Barros Silva Varela & Vigil. With more than 20 years of experience and a vast professional background in Regulatory Law and Administrative Litigation, she advises companies in matters of environmental impact assessment of projects and defences before State agencies; concession granting processes; reports on environmental institutions and regulation; participation in due diligence and advice on litigation matters related to her areas of practice. She also has a deep knowledge of the electricity industry and its regulatory framework, where she has participated in advising on the main energy projects in the country.
Claudia has worked for more than 10 years in public sector institutions and has been highlighted by Chambers and Partners for her practice in the Environmental area since 2012.
Pilar leads the firm’s tax practice and specialises in corporate reorganisations of both high net worth individuals and domestic and foreign companies doing business in Chile. Her advice includes consultancy on corporate tax matters, which involves accompanying the business from its creation, structure design and all the challenges presented at each stage.
Pilar has extensive experience in resolving tax disputes before the Chilean Internal Revenue Service and Tax and Customs Courts. She is also a member of the young arbitrators’ corps of the Arbitration and Mediation Centre of the Santiago Chamber of Commerce.
She has been a lecturer in different undergraduate and postgraduate courses at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez and Universidad de Chile, where she is currently Professor of Tax Law, in undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
Roberto Lewin heads the Labor Law practice at Barros Silva Varela & Vigil. He has extensive experience advising domestic and foreign companies from various industries on individual and collective labor matters. His practice is characterized by a strategic and comprehensive approach that seeks to align labor relations with business objectives.
He has extensive experience in restructuring processes, collective bargaining, regulatory compliance, and human resources management. In addition, he regularly advises on social security matters, labor migration, internal investigations, inclusion and diversity policies, harassment and discrimination prevention, and the design and implementation of internal protocols and training.

Felipe leads the Public Law practice at Barros Silva Varela & Vigil, where he has focused his practice on strategic advice on environmental assessment of investment projects, administrative regulation, sanctioning procedures and administrative litigation. He also provides reports on highly complex law, presentations before State institutions such as the Comptroller General of the Republic, Courts and Congress, among others.
He has a distinguished career in the public sector, having held senior positions in key institutions such as the Undersecretariat of the Environment, the Superintendence of the Environment, the Environmental Assessment Service and the Third Environmental Court of Valdivia. His experience gives him a deep knowledge of the current regulation and litigation dynamics of his practice area.
